Gr 9 Visual Arts - AVI10
prerequisite: none This course is exploratory in nature, offering an overview of visual arts. Students will become familiar with the elements and principles of design and be exposed to a range of media, processes, techniques, and styles. Students will use the creative and critical analysis processes throughout the course. Gr 10 Visual Arts - AVI20 prerequisite: none This course enables students to develop their skills in producing and presenting art by introducing them to new ideas, materials, and processes for artistic exploration and experimentation. Students will apply the elements and principles of design when exploring the creative process. |

Gr 11 Visual Arts- AVI3M
prerequisite: AVI10 or AVI20
This course enables students to further develop their knowledge and skills in visual arts. Students will use the creative process to explore a wide range of themes through studio work that may include drawing, painting, sculpting, and printmaking, as well as the creation of collage, multimedia works, and works using emerging technologies. Students will continue to use the creative process and critical analysis throughout.
Gr 11 Drawing / Painting- AWM3M
prerequisite: AVI10 or AVI20
This course enables student to explore a wide range of drawing specific and painting specific materials and techniques. Students will explore a wide range of themes while using both the creative process as well as a critical analysis approach to their own work and works of others.
Gr 12 Visual Arts- AVI4M
prerequisite: AVI3M
This course focuses on enabling students to refine their use of the creative process. Students are able to explore a wide range of materials, processes, and techniques that can be applied in their own art production and used in understanding the works of others. Drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, multimedia works, photography and emerging technologies may be explored in this course
Gr 12 Drawing / Painting- AW4M
prerequisite: AVI3M
This course enables student to explore and refine their use of a wide range of drawing specific and painting specific materials and techniques. Students will explore a variety of themes while using both the creative process and the critical analysis approach when creating their own works.
Media Arts- ASM30
prerequisite: AVI10 or AVI20
This course enables student to explore the world of media and digital creations. Students will use digital photography as well as Photoshop to create their own works. The critical analysis process will be used to help understand the works of others and aid in their own personal creations.
Stage Design- AWJ3M
prerequisite: AVI10 or AVI20
This course enables student to explore the world of stage design as it pertains to major musical productions. Students will work with the drama department and the construction technology department to conceptualize, design, create and realize a complete set for the current musical.
