DNA Interview Expectations

DNA Visual Arts Student Expectations
Students wishing to be part of the DNA Visual Arts program are required to attend a mandatory interview at Laura Secord after submitting an application (please see guidance for applications).

Below are some suggestions of work you might consider bringing. It is not necessary to have each item, however we encourage you to bring items that show creativity, a range of techniques and mediums.

  • ​Sketchbook(s)
  • A Landscape
  • A Portrait
  • A Still Life
  • Something in Pencil
  • Something in Acrylic
  • Something in Pastel
  • Something in Watercolour​
  • Successfully complete 6 Visual Arts credits including:
    • Gr 9 Visual Arts
    • Gr 10 Visual Arts
    • Gr 11 Visual Arts
    • Gr 11 Drawing and Painting
    • Gr 12 Visual Arts
    • Gr 12 Drawing and Painting
    • + 2 other arts courses​
  • Maintain an average of 80% or higher in all Visual Arts courses​
  • Attend and participate in a weekly Art Club meeting
  • Participate in artist run workshops
  • Attend and review 2 art exhibitions per year (see art resources)
  • Apply to have personal artwork in various exhibitions each year
  • Participate in the year end art show at Laura Secord
